Obituary of Christopher Dwayne Yakim
Christopher Dwayne Yakim, 37, of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Memorial Hospital, the victim of senseless gun violence.
He was born on October 31, 1984, in Niles, to Dwayne “Sonny” and Amy (Carpenter) Yakim. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
No matter where Chris went, he always had a smile, and joked around. He loved to watch and play basketball and football. He enjoyed gambling. He loved animals of all kinds but his heart was set on dogs and always wanted to get his kennels going with his friend Farries Maxwell.
Christopher worked as a forklift operator at Swift Prepared Foods in South Bend and was a former employee at Hydro Extrusions in North Liberty.
Christopher was preceded in death by his brother Craig Earl Yakim, grandfathers, Joseph (Papa Joe) Yakim and Walter Cole, his uncle, Robert (Bob) Sparrow and lifelong friend Farries Maxwell.
