Obituary of Miriam Nellis

Miriam "Mimi" Francis Nellis, 72 of Niles, passed away at Spectrum Health Hospital - Niles on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

She was born October 31, 1949, in Oakland, California to the late Robert and Marian (Smith) Nellis.

Mimi was accomplished at knitting and crocheting and recently made lovely dolls for her granddaughters and great niece. She was also sewing gift items to sell in the Art on 2nd gift shop in Niles. Mimi loved to cook and in earlier years would often spend all day in the kitchen preparing memorable meals for her family. Unfortunately, life also brought heartache, and after many years of living a troubled and isolated life, it was a joy to see her smile, hear her laugh, be a part of the community, and reconnect to family in the past few years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Paul Nellis.

Mimi is survived by her children, Kevin (Ella) Tschopik of McFarland, Wisconsin, and Russell James "Jim" (Angie Davies) Tschopik of Evansville, Wisconsin, her former spouse Harry Tschopik III of McFarland, Wisconsin as well as grandchildren; Cali Tschopik, Phoenix Tschopik, and Aurelia Tschopik, step-grandchildren; Jace Davies-Rorvig, Tyson Davies-Rorvig, Memphis Davies, and Ezmerelda Benson. Her siblings; Roberta "Robin" Nellis Green of Pittsburg, California, brother John Mark Nellis of Pittsburg, California, and sister Deborah (Curtis) Miles of Niles, Michigan; and also nephews, great nephews, and great nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Church in Niles, Michigan with Pastor Brian G Hedges officiating.
