Obituary of Paula Marie Moreland
Paula A. Moreland, 61, of Niles, passed away at Bronson Methodist Hospital of Kalamazoo on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
On June 19, 1961, Paula was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to her late father, Paul Acosta, and her loving mother, Nancy (Lepel) Acosta.
Paula is best remembered as a strong, loving, selfless individual who prioritized her family, and gave others a helping hand where it was needed. She was naturally charismatic and enjoyed the quality time and conversations she shared with all those she knew. Towards the end of her life Paula had been dealing with a variety of health complications but she never let that stop her from smiling and sharing the great sense of humor that only she had. She raised a family by herself and lived to meet all seven of her grandchildren. She loved being a mom but she took even more pride in being a loving grandma. She was a woman of simple pleasures; crime tv, movie nights with the grandkids, her cats, barbeques, and a good margarita are what she enjoyed the most. She worked as a registered nurse her entire career and wasn’t afraid to step in and take things into her own hands in an emergency situation. Paula served as an excellent example of what it meant to be a hardworking, independent, strong woman. Her memory will be carried on and cherished by all those she knew and loved.
Preceding Paula in death is her father, Paul Acosta; her first husband, George Ross; second husband, Joe Moreland; and extended family members and many friends.
Those surviving Paula include her sons, Steven Ross and Jaidyn Moreland; her mother, Nancy (Lepel) Acosta; siblings, Bonnie Roberts, Bob Acosta, and Sue Dumais; grandchildren, Jeremiah Ross, Akyara Ross, TJ Buck, Yael Garcia, Ashante Garcia, Oziel Garcia, and Axel Garcia; nieces, Emily Roberts, Jackie Roberts, and Allison Roberts; as well as many family extended family and friends amongst the community.
Following Paula’s wishes, she will be cremated and her cremated remains are to be spread in the Badlands of North Dakota. No formal service will take place as the family will be celebrating her life in private.
