Obituary of Samuel Murphy
Samuel John Murphy, 66, of Niles Michigan, passed away at Saint Joseph Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 4, 2022.
Samuel (lovingly known as Sammy) was born on December 25, 1955 to the union of John and Magnolia (Palmer) Murphy. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age. He grew up in “Hatcherville” with his family and had fond memories of the times he had there and the lifelong friends he made. Sammy received his formal education at Niles High School in Niles, Michigan. After high school, he went on to work for R & R Railroad Company in Michigan City, Indiana, and later was employed by Bridges Motor Sales in Niles, Michigan for over 20 years.
Sammy enjoyed detailing cars, listening to music, and watching his favorite team -The University of Michigan- whenever they were on television. He will be remembered for many things, and high on that list was his sense of humor. He was always good for a laugh. If Sammy was in a room, he was saying something that made people laugh. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and his children were his pride and joy. Sammy was loved very much and will be missed beyond measure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Murphy Jr. and Magnolia Murphy; his grandparents, John Murphy Sr., Mattie Baker, Haskin Palmer and Lillie Palmer; a niece, Shanda Murphy; and a great niece, Dayonna Brown.
Sammy leaves to cherish his memory his companion of 25 years, Jennifer Hibbert of Niles, Michigan; his children, Nakeeva Davis of Niles, Michigan; Nicole (D’Lacy) Stith of Columbus, Ohio; Samuel Murphy, Rhiannon Murphy, Santiago Webb, and Charles Webb, all of South Bend, Indiana; his brothers, Ralph Murphy and Calon Murphy of Niles, Michigan; Bruce Smith of Dowagiac, Michigan; Enners Smith of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and Brandon Murphy of South Bend, Indiana; his sisters, Wanda Thompson, Marilyn Baker, Deborah Murphy and Donna Lemons, all of Niles, Michigan; Delores Love and Cassandra Burch of South Bend, Indiana; Esther Smith of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and Chelsea Adams of Carmel, Indiana. He also leaves behind seventeen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
