Obituary of Mary Ann Horvath
Mary Ann Horvath, 79, of Edwardsburg, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on August 22, 2022.
On November 1, 1942, Mary Ann was born in Dowagiac, Michigan, to the late Bill and Lula (Bailey) Hartsell.
All her life Mary Ann was a kind, selfless, thoughtful person who sewed herself into the hearts of all she loved and cared about. She was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother who did her best to fill the bellies of all her family members with the most excellent baked goods. Her cookies, cheesecakes, and pies were sought after and loved by anyone who had the chance to try them. After the tragic loss of her husband, Ronald, she stepped up to be the sole provider for her two sons, Brian and John. She set an example for what it meant to be a hardworking, dedicated mother who always made time for the people she valued the most.
With time, Mary Ann’s family grew and she became a grandma to her two loving grandchildren, Piper and Andrew. Their quality time was often spent watching old westerns, reading, and baking. She always did her best to attend sports events and wasn’t afraid to make her voice heard and cheer on whomever she was there to watch. In her earlier years she enjoyed camping; tent camping in the earlier years, but she eventually gave in and bought a camper for her and her boys to enjoy. For years Mary Ann was a part of a bowling league where she would get together with her best friends and have a nice night out. Her presence was felt wherever she went and her loving personality and genuine smile will be missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Preceding Mary Ann in death are her parents, Bill and Lula (Bailey) Hartsell; her husband, Ronald Horvath; and her brother, Lowell Hartsell.
Those surviving Mary Ann are her sons, Brian Horvath and John (Erica) Horvath; and her loving grandchildren, Piper Horvath, and Andrew VanKirk.
A memorial service for Mary Ann will take place at the Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Thursday, September 1, 2022. An hour of visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Immediately following the service will be a burial at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
