Obituary of Linda Jane McCullough
Linda J. McCullough, 78, of Granger, Indiana, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at her residence. Linda is rejoicing and singing with the angels in the new life she has in Christ.
She was born on October 22, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Milton A. and Anna B. (Crawford) Freet. Linda was a 1961 graduate of Pontiac Central High School. On December 16, 1961 Linda married Fred A. McCullough at a ceremony in Pontiac. The couple parted ways in 1996, after raising their three children, but continued their friendship until his passing in 2017.
Linda was a legal secretary for many years with Warner Norcross and Judd LLP as well as Miller Johnson and Associates in Grand Rapids, Michigan, retiring in 2010. She had a strong faith and had been a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Michigan, joining in 1972. While attending Christ Lutheran Church, Linda served in various positions including as the church secretary, a member of the choir and assisted with funeral luncheons. She also sang for many years with the Grand Rapids Symphony, Kentwood Community Choir and the Metropolitan Choir of Praise. Linda also gave of her talents by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. Pets were a constant throughout her life. Most recently, her cats were her close companions offering great comfort.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James Freet and a son-in-law, Tim Benner.
Linda is survived by her children, Joan (Douglas) Langmeyer of Niles, Laurie McCullough-Benner of Shorewood, Wisconsin and Jeff (Annett) McCullough of Mapleton, Illinois; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as countless other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church at 2350 44th Street SW in Wyoming, Michigan with Pastor Rob Schmidt officiating. An interment will follow at Blain Cemetery in Gaines Township.
