Obituary of Don Ross Fogel
Don Ross Fogel, 78, of Battle Creek, passed away at Bickford of Battle Creek on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Just as fall was in full swing, Don made his arrival on October 26, 1943 to Frank and Zoe (Snyder) Fogel.
After graduating from Battle Creek Central High School, Don served his country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, Don came home and began his career with Barker Manufacturing holding several positions until retirement. He was an avid Detroit Tigers & Lions fan, and he played adult league baseball & softball at Bailey Park for many years. Don was a member of The Downtown Church, formerly known as The Potter’s House, where he was a former board member, an usher, and a constant help. He was an integral part of their softball team, serving as pitcher for many years and was fondly known as their coach. Don found pleasure in the simple things of life, and could be often found helping neighbors, family and friends by volunteering his time and efforts. He was always willing to help another person, often times before they could even ask and using his own vacation time to accomplish things for others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Zoe Fogel; and brothers, George Fogel and Frank Fogel Jr.
Don is survived by his children, Donn “K.C.” (Sherry) Fogel of Battle Creek, Daniel Fogel of Tennessee, special daughter Sherry Wilkey, sister Bernice Wilson of Coldwater; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
