Obituary of Ricky Lee Ferguson

Ricky L. Ferguson, 73, of Niles, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022.

He made his first appearance on March 26, 1949 to Robert and Marge (Creighbaum) Ferguson in Argos, Indiana. 

After graduating from Niles High School in 1967, Ricky joined the United States Navy and served his country with great pride during the Vietnam War.  Upon returning home from the war, Ricky began working in in transportation and continued on for over 30 years, retiring from a management position.

He always enjoyed sports and played fast pitch softball for many years where his dependable glove often had him playing first base or catching.  Later in life, Ricky earned the title of Poppy, and enjoyed any time surrounded by his seven granddaughters and grandson who quickly learned he would do just about anything for them.

Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marge and his brother, Ron Ferguson, his step-mother Lean (Woodlee) Ferguson, and step-father George Schlosser.

Surviving Ricky are his children; Ryan (Lindsay) Ferguson of Dallas, Texas, Sara (Ryan) Freeman of Lantanna, Texas, Lindsay Ferguson of Weatherford, Texas, his siblings; Robert (Lynn) Ferguson, Pam Ferguson-Pauszek, Jerry Ferguson, sister-in-law, Cenza Ferguson. seven granddaughters, and one grandson.

A graveside service for Ricky will take place November 12, 2022, 10 a.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, 61453 M-51 Niles, MI  49120.
