Obituary of Rev. Douglas Fleury

Please share a memory of Rev. Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Pastor Douglas Edward Fleury, 58, of Battle Creek, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, surrounded by his wife and daughters.

He was born in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Rev. Donald and Theresa (Deneau) Fleury. Douglas was raised in the Escanaba, Michigan area and moved to Battle Creek in 1994.

On September 27, 1997 Douglas married Scarlette F. Colon at a ceremony in Marshall, Michigan. He worked for Denso Manufacturing as a supervisor for a number of years before his promotion to a higher calling.

Pastor Douglas had a powerful testimony of how God had delivered him from severe alcohol and drug addiction. In 2006 Pastor Douglas would begin a new work and was the founding Pastor of New Hope Apostolic Church in Battle Creek. He was the kind of man whose calling was to help anyone in need at any time. He knew not everyone would come to a church so he would reach out to bring God to them, wherever they might be. Pastor Douglas worked extensively with the mission of helping those less fortunate including the homeless. He would provide food, clothing and a listening ear, changing hearts of countless people. He had a deep love for his wife, children and grandchildren.

Douglas was an outdoorsman and looked forward to spending time fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed a round of golf, which he always used as a way to minister to someone and had a great eye for landscaping.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Wayne Fleury and a sister, Noreen Upton.

Pastor Douglas leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Pastor Scarlette Fleury of Battle Creek; children, Chantilly (Rev. William) Scott of Battle Creek, Olivia Fleury of Battle Creek, Jon and Justin Leask both of Escanaba; grandchildren, Adeline, Liam and Selah Scott; his mother, Theresa Fleury of Escanaba; his siblings, Lynn (Bob) Holmberg of Iron River, Michigan, Norman (Karen) Fleury of Gladstone, Michigan, Patti (Bob) White of Pontiac, Donna (Dan) McDonald of Escanaba, Rhonda (Todd) Way of Escanaba, Allen Rossetter of Escanaba and Luke (Barb) Fleury of Battle Creek; brother-in-law, Bradley (Jeanette) Upton of Cornell, Michigan; a bonus daughter, Nikki Blevins of Battle Creek as well as his grand-dog, Rigby aka Red Dog. He will also be missed by the thousands of lives he has impacted throughout his lifetime.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a victory worship service at 7:00 p.m. at New Hope Apostolic Church at 6900 E Drive N., Battle Creek, Michigan 49014.
