Obituary of Dennis Lee Grams

Dennis Grams, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away in his sleep at home on July 2, 2022. 

Dennis was born on December 7, 1938, to the late Elmer and Elsie (Rahn) Grams in St. Joseph, Michigan.  In 1956, he graduated from St. Joseph High School and on December 12, 1959, he wed the love of his life, Barbara A. Katowich at a ceremony in St. Joseph.  Dennis worked as a Lab Technician for Clark Equipment in Buchanan before transferring to Benton Harbor until his retirement.  Dennis retired from Clarks’ at the age of 52 with 32 years of service.  He and Barb thoroughly enjoyed retirement. Dennis was an avid fisherman, loved traveling the world, taking trips on his motorcycle, and tending to his vegetable garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra Shank.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Grams; daughters, Debbie (Perry) Rice of Carmel, Indiana, Robyn (Steve) Holmes of Paw Paw, Michigan, and Jori (Tom) Jacobs of Jenison, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Judy) Grams of Bloomingdale, Michigan; and many extended family members and close friends.

Dennis’ family will be holding a private gathering this summer to honor and celebrate his life. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in his name may do so to their local animal shelter.
