Obituary of Delores Ann Smith
Delores Ann Smith ,85, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Delores is survived by two sons; Alan (Michele) Smith, South Bend, Terry (Dee) Smith, Edwardsburg, a daughter Sherry Maciejewski, North Liberty, step sons; John (Betty) Hurt, Niles, David (Missy) Hurt, South Bend, and Gary Hurt. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Abbey (Ryan) Kaiser, Evan (Annie) Smith, Courtney Kayser, Austin Smith, Erin Gill, Braylee Smith, Alex Hurt, Marcus Hurt, Brandon Hurt, Maddie Hurt and 8 great-grandchildren.
Delores graduated from Central High School, South Bend and received her Associates Degree from IUSB. Delores retired from South Bend Community School Corporation after 27 years tutoring low-achieving children.
She married Dale Hurt in 1988 and he passed in June 2021. Delores was a longtime member of Eastern Star and Hope Community Church, Niles, MI. Delores enjoyed knitting prayer shawls and helping the Lakeville United Methodist sewing circle, reading mystery novels and cookbooks and enjoyed chair yoga at Riverbend Cancer. She was very giving towards others and very much cared for her family and special dog Fondue. She will be greatly missed.
