Obituary of Eilene Elaine Hamilton-Rogers
Eilene E. Hamilton-Rogers, 74, of Niles passed away at home on Thursday, June 23, 2022, after a very courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on March 14, 1948 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Alfred and Beulah (Wickizer) Likes.
Eilene graduated from Brandywine High School in 1966 and wed Larry Hamilton just a few months after. Even though Larry and Eilene later divorced they remained good friends. She then married David Rogers on March 17, 2003 after a long courtship.
They say good things come in small packages, and for those that knew Eilene, this was absolutely true! Her family is still unsure how that much spunk could fit into that small little body. What Eilene lacked in stature she made up for in personality. She was wholly devoted to her family and not only did she love beyond measure her children, but when she was given the gift of grandchildren, Eilene, otherwise known as “Memaw” and “Grandma” found and displayed a whole new level of adoration and love for her grandbabies. When she wasn’t spoiling her children, grandchildren, or cooking something delicious to eat, she found time to quilt, sew, and even embroider beautiful creations. Eilene always looked forward to her yearly trips to Barothy Lodge in Walhalla, Michigan where her and her family fully connected with each other and nature.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, her husband, David Rogers, her ex-husband and friend, Larry Hamilton, and son, Brian Hamilton.
Eilene is survived by her daughters; Gina (John) Wood of Niles, Tammy (Robert) Oakley of Stevensville, and Beth Herrman of St. Joseph. Her grandchildren; Tanier Wood, Dale Oakley, Alicia Gilford, and Lana Gadde will miss their precious time with her but will be forever thankful for all of the memories they created together. She is also survived by her siblings; Kenneth (Sandra) Likes of Colorado and June Allen of Bellville, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services to celebrate Eilene will take place, Friday, July 1, 2022, at 12 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel, 61453 M-51, Niles, Michigan.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honor of Eilene have been asked to consider Caring Circle Hospice, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan or The Berrien County Cancer Services, 3900 Hollywood Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
