Obituary of Linda Mae Jansen

Linda M. (Shroyer) Jansen, 70, of Niles, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her own home on June 19, 2022.

On October 28, 1951, Linda was born in Valparaiso, Indiana to the late Elmer and Gladys (Kasten) Shroyer.

Linda wore many hats throughout her life and was a very smart, hard-working woman before she fell ill. She had worked in the cardiac unit at the Powating Hospital in Niles for many years which is something she always took pride in. She was motivated to help people regardless of who they were or where they came from.  She did well for herself and wanted to do the best she could to provide for her son, Chris. On April 12, 1986, Linda married the man she would spend the rest of her life with, Tony Jansen. Not only did she decide to love Tony for the rest of her life, but took on the role of stepmother, opening a place in her heart for Tony’s son, Tim, as well. Growing up as one of four children, Linda always knew the impact a tight-knit family could have on one’s life. She appreciated the little things in life such as reading, sewing, knitting, and quality time with friends. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Center Book Club in Niles and cherished the time she spent enjoying literature with others who appreciated it as much as she did. Linda lived a good, honest life and her memory will be cherished for years to come.

Preceding Linda in death is her parents, Elmer and Gladys (Kasten) Shroyer.

Those who survive her include her loving husband, Tony Jansen; her son, Chris Johnson; step-son, Tim Jansen; her three siblings, Larry Shroyer, Lisa Shroyer, and Lila Fortune; as well as five grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

At this time there will be no public services held for Linda as the family will be celebrating her life in private. Inurnment will take place at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens at a future date.
