Obituary of John Willam Hibbard

John W. Hibbard, 74, of Niles passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Lakeland Hospital in St Joseph Michigan, following a brief illness with pancreatic cancer. He was born on May 25, 1947, in Niles, Michigan to the late William E. and Elizabeth M. (Miltonburger) Hibbard. John graduated from Niles High School in 1965, soon after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. John will be fondly remembered as a perpetual hobbyist, he was a collector of all things. If you needed something, no matter how eclectic or rare, he more than likely had it. John was a lifetime student; he was always learning something new. He kept his mind sharp by playing strategy games. His most treasured moments were spent with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his children, John (Staci) Hibbard, Donald (Lisa) Hibbard, Mary (Steve) LaVigne, Robert Hibbard, Duane (Stevie) Hibbard; an adopted son, Josh Steinbach; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild on the way; five adopted grandchildren; significant other, Peggy Riley; and his brother, Robert Hibbard. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. John’s family will host a gathering honoring his life at a later date.
