Obituary of Oscar Anderson Bradbury
Please share a memory of Oscar to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Oscar A. Bradbury, 88, of Niles, passed away at home on Monday, April 1, 2022.
Born on February 11, 1934, in Beardstown, Illinois, he was one of nine children born to the late Oscar A. Bradbury, Sr., and Lillian Jump.
Oscar married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart Joyce Jean Corwin in Niles on June 18, 1954.
Oscar learned a welding trade in the Navy before they were married. After his service, Joyce had a job waiting for him so they both followed careers while building their country home. Soon they started a family, having two daughters, Renee and Kimberly. Oscar was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and billiards. After retiring from K & M Manufacturing, Joyce and Oscar spend summers at their Donnell Lake cottage, where they were always fishing and spending time with their grandchildren. During the winter months, Oscar spent creative hours in his stained-glass shop.
Most of all, Oscar loved spending time with his family. He was known to be a kind, compassionate man who always put his family first. Among his many valued friends were his neighbors and his dog pal, Dexter. Oscar was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Oscar is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; both parents as well as two brothers and six sisters.
Those surviving Oscar, to cherish his memory, include his daughters, Renee (Michael) Manry and Kimberly (Daniel) Fox, both of Niles; three grandchildren, Dustin (Heather) Manry, Jessica (Steven) Shepard, and Nathan Fox; four great-grandchildren, Jacob Manry, Chloe Manry, Oliver Fox, and Logan Fox; and a host of nieces and nephews.
There will be no public service as the family will be gathering privately in celebration of Oscar’s life.
