Obituary of Randall Andrew Wells
Please share a memory of Randall to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Randall A. Wells Sr., 72, of Dowagiac, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on March 5, 2022.
On August 9, 1949, Randall was brought into this world by his parents, Rolfe Wells Sr and Wanda (Allen) Wells, in Niles.
Randall was a man of simple pleasures; friends, family, and anybody who would have a good conversation was all he needed in life. He was a very charismatic soul, not one to know a stranger at all. Growing up, Randall was one of seven total children. His parents owned and operated the Hampshire Country Club in Dowagiac and Randall kept the grounds looking pristine for most of his life. He was a man that took pride in his work and one could always tell by the finished results. Aside from keeping the grounds, Randall was also a volunteer firefighter for the Pokagon Fire Department in his younger years. Firefighting was a way for him to give back to the community, something that was important to him. He also served as a Navy reserve, although he wasn’t ever fond of the water. He cared more for others than he did himself, he was always one to listen more than he would talk. His willingness to listen provided him with everything he needed to give great advice, comforting words, or a little motivation. Nobody ever felt rushed when they were talking to Randall, his kind disposition and cherry red smile gave others the comfort of knowing that he was as sincere as they come. Family was always an extremely important aspect of his life. He married his soulmate, Carol, in 1982, and was by her side until she passed away. He enjoyed quality time with his children and grandchildren. He didn’t get out a ton but one of his favorite events to go and see were the tractor pulls. Every once in a while, he would make a special trip over to Frankenmuth, and he would occasionally go and visit his family in Canada. Most of the time if he wasn’t working you could find him relaxing and watching his favorite shows, most of which were classic westerns. Randall was old school, and with that came simplicity. He loved the people around him and was a joy to those who knew him. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Preceding Randall in death are his parents, Rolfe and Wanda Wells; his wife, Carol Wells; one of his six siblings, Dianne Murray; as well as a brother-in-law, Jim Murray.
Surviving Randall is his three children, Michelle Anderson, Randall Wells Jr., and Robin Wells; four grandchildren, Grace Anderson, Dale Anderson, Clara Anderson, and Arianna (Hector) Del Real; one great-grandchild, Skylar Anderson; his siblings, Tracey (John) Watson, Michael (Judy) Wells, Rolly (Karen) Wells, Steve (Lori) Wells, and Mary-Anne (Alan) Mock; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service for Randall will be held at the Pokagon United Methodist Church and will be officiated by Alan Mock. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022. Burial will take place after the service at Mission Hills Memorial Cemetery and the family kindly invites anyone to the repast at the church afterward.
