Obituary of Scott Alan Hauch
Please share a memory of Scott to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Scott Alan Hauch, 70, of Baroda, peacefully passed away at home after a long battle with chronic respiratory and kidney disease on February 18, 2022.
On July 24, 1951 Scott was born to the late Elmer and Olive (Ewaschuk) Hauch in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Scott spent the majority of his life enjoying the beauty of the western side of Michigan. He was in the graduating class of 1969 from Lakeshore High School. He was extremely proud to attend the 50-year class reunion in 2019. In his early years, he had helped his father build the Baroda Body Shop, something that taught him skills he would use for the rest of his life.
On August 20, 1981, Scott married the woman he would spend the rest of his life with, Mary (Stroba) Sporleder, and the two happily united their existing families. Scott had two sons, Elmer Alan, and Jeffery Scott, and Mary had her daughter, Sarah Kate whom they raised in Baroda, Michigan.
After starting and working many years at the Baroda Body Shop with his father, he eventually left the business to reeducate himself at Lake Michigan College where he was a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa. With his continued education, he was able to become a journeyman mold maker and continued to work in the tool and dye industry for many years.
Scott was a man of many interests and talents. He thoroughly enjoyed his Electraglide Harley Davidson, welding, he was an excellent sketch artist, and eventually found a passion for digital photography and the art associated with it. He also had a heart for music, playing guitar and eventually learning how to play the piano alongside his wife Mary.
Those preceding Scott in death are both of his parents, Elmer and Olive Hauch; all of his siblings, Cindy Schlutt, Sandra Margrath, and William Hauch.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hauch of Baroda; his sons, Elmer Alan Hauch of Grand Rapids, and Jeffery (Lindsay) Hauch of Grand Rapids; step-daughter Sarah Kate Sporleder of Astoria, New York; former daughter-in-law, Andrea Harris of Ventress, Louisiana; granddaughters, Ashley (Chris) Hauch of Louisiana, Emily (Devin) Hauch of Ventress, Louisiana; and five great-grandchildren.
Scott was also loved and supported by his in-laws, Susan (Tim) Mance of Coloma, David (Keri) Stroba of Benton Harbor, Jonathon Stroba of Coloma, and George Stroba of Stevensville.
He was a man who set a great example for those around him and will be dearly missed by everybody he knew and loved.
The family will be celebrating Scott’s life privately at a later date.
