Obituary of Erwin Roy Benjamin

Erwin Roy “Doc” Benjamin, 91, of Buchanan, passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Doc was born on June 8, 1930, to the late Clarence and Margaret (Cornwall) Benjamin in Niles, Michigan. Doc graduated from high school and went on to become a Tool & Die Maker and a Machinist at National Standard. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Buchanan. On September 16, 1950, Doc wed Doris Jean Batten at a ceremony in Buchanan and the two had three sons, Mark, Craig, and Bart. Doc was a very meticulous clock repairman, detailed woodworker, and thoroughly enjoyed helping friends and family with their repair jobs and creating what was needed to get the job done correctly. His family will always fondly remember him for his fun hats, bold suspenders, and lovingness to always help them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Margaret Benjamin; wife, Doris Benjamin; and his siblings, Keith Benjamin, Ruth Wolf, Kay Benjamin, Ned Benjamin, and Daryl “Joe” Benjamin. Doc is survived by his sons, Mark (Terry) Benjamin of Buchanan, Craig Benjamin of Fife Lake, Michigan, and Bart (Sue) Benjamin of Niles; grandchildren, Justin Benjamin, Tiffany Benjamin, Bradley Benjamin, Anna (Chad) Brewer, Karla Finchum, and Amber Withers; great-grandchildren, Markkus, Chelseah, Tarren, Austin, Deavon, Cirstin, Caitlin, Sophie, Joanna, and Beau; sister-in-laws, Mickey Benjamin and Joan Benjamin; and many extended family members and close friends. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Niles at 2:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour before. Doc will be laid to rest next to his wife at a private graveside service at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
