Obituary of Melissa Lee Colon

Melissa “Missy” L. Colon, 54, of Albion, passed away at her residence on Friday, February 11, 2022 suddenly, of natural causes. She was born on January 14, 1968 in Albion, Michigan to Efrain “Frank” and Mable Lynn (Young) Colon. Missy graduated from Albion High School, class of 1986. Missy worked at Albion College for 15 years but especially enjoyed her work there as a cook. She also worked at TRMI, Tokai Rika in Battle Creek until she became disabled. Missy loved dogs and enjoyed golfing and bowling when she was in good health. Her favorite past-time was scaring people at any opportunity. She will be remembered for her free spirit but most of all her love for her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, M. Lynn Colon on December 14, 2013 and her nephew, Narciso Colon on April 24, 2021. Missy leaves to cherish her memory, her loving father, E. Frank Colon of Battle Creek; sister, Scarlette (Rev. Douglas) Fleury of Battle Creek; brother, Rocky Colon of Lady Lake, Florida; nieces, Chantilly (Rev. William) Scott and Olivia Fleury of Battle Creek; great nieces, Adeline and Selah Scott; great nephew, Liam Scott; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of Missy’s life will be held at New Hope Apostolic Church in Battle Creek on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. with a time of visitation to begin at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Apostolic Church, 6922 E.
