Obituary of Marvin Emmett Strouss

Please share a memory of Marvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marvin E. Strouss, 72, of Ashville, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Mission Hospital after a brief illness. His parents, Charles and Lusina (Hall) Strouss, rejoiced and thanked God for the addition of a healthy baby boy on June 23, 1949 in Lansing, Michigan. After attending college, and receiving his Michigan Contractors licenses, Marvin joined his family full time in their family business of transforming sketched dreams on paper to homes for families. As the years passed, he honed his particular skill in carpentry and was known for his preciseness and beautiful designs with wood. As a young man growing up with faith at the center of his life, Marvin knew God’s plan for him was beginning to unfold for him when Patricia Trachsel (Trisha) came into his life. The couple wed at a ceremony on September 25, 1976 and has continued to enjoy God’s blessings as they welcomed their three children. Although he was an accomplished builder; his woodworking skills being featured in both architectural magazines as well as the honor of being a part of the Jackson Parade of Homes, this was not Marvin’s passion or heartbeat. He was a family man who took every opportunity to be present in the lives of his wife, children and then his grandchildren. He loved to make memories while camping or while sitting in the saddle horseback riding. Marvin also grew up hunting with his father and brothers and in turn passed this down to his Son and grandchildren. Upon Marvin’s passing, there was a great reunion in Heaven with his parents Charles and Lusina Strouss and his grandson, Malachi Matinzi. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over forty-five years, Patricia Strouss of Asheville, North Carolina; his children, Elena (Keith) Flannery of New Port Richey, Florida, David (Mary) Strouss of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Kristina (Pastor Jonathan) Matinzi, of Fletcher, North Carolina. He also leaves to carry on his legacy, his sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren Steven Reynolds, Kyle Reynolds, Chloe Reynolds, Chase Reynolds, Ava Flannery, Christian Strouss, Ethan Strouss, Andrew Strouss, Blake Strouss, Alivia Strouss, Jonathan Matinzi, Seth Matinzi, Christopher Matinzi, Gabriel Matinzi, Julian Matinzi, Hezekiah Reynolds, Harper Reynolds, Carson Reynolds, Maven Reynolds, and Kennedy Reynolds. He will be missed by his siblings, Sandra Strouss, Daniel (Wanda) Strouss, Susan (Doug) Aylesworth, and Ed (Melinda) Strouss, all of Michigan. Services to celebrate Marvin’s life and rejoice that he now is safely in the arms of his savior will take place on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 3 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning at 1 p.m. at Grace Apostolic Church, 700 Elmwood Ave, Clawson, Michigan 48017. A private interment will be held on Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honor of Marvin have been asked to consider a contribution to assist with funeral expenses by mailing a contribution to 110 Johnston Blvd. Asheville, NC 28806 or online at Discoverychurch.tv His kind demeanor, his ability to be both a strong leader for his family and kind friend with an enormous heart will both be affectionately remembered and deeply missed. Photos, condolences, and memories can be left for Marvin’s family and friends at www.BrownFuneralHomeNiles.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Niles.
