Obituary of Robert Capps

Robert A. Capps, 58, of South Bend passed away unexpectedly but of natural causes Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to William Alton Capps and Bertie Jean (Walling) Ciszewski on January 27, 1963. After graduating high school in Hartford, Michigan class 1981, Rob went on to join the United States Navy and serve his country proudly. It was during his time in the military that he gained training in aviation electronics and became very skilled in this area. Rob enjoyed spending time at home with his family, two of which happened to have four legs, his dogs Cinnamon and Buster. He always had a great sense of humor, and could make you smile; he found great enjoyment picking on those around him. When he was at home Rob liked to hop on his computer and play games, such as Battle of Pirates, he connected with several people who became longtime friends. Rob enjoyed the simple things in life, and eventually became a collector of sorts. He loved the little bottles of alcohol that were unique in shape or from different countries and was sure to show you his collection of many! He also collected several different types of firearms, including his AR-15 and several hand guns. Although Rob could have been considered a home body, you would find him out riding his 750 Honda Magna or his V-Star Yamaha. On a nice and sunny day, Rob wouldn’t miss the opportunity to ride around on his bikes. Rob is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Sondra, children; Michael Capps, of Niles and Amber Capps, of South Bend and his sister, Tammy (Gary) Kelley of Niles. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior.
