Obituary of Mark Wayne Coburn

Mark W. Coburn, 59, of Mishawaka, suddenly passed away in Niles on December 17, 2021. He was born on the 25th of July, 1962, to the late Rex Coburn and Margaret (Linville) Wood. Mark was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, and stayed in the Michiana area for the entirety of his life. Although he was a local, he did spend a lot of time traveling all over Michigan and throughout the country. Mark had a passion for motocross and was a flagger for many years. He enjoyed long road trips with his best friend and ride or die, Zoey, and his loving life partner, Sonya Schultz. Mark was a free spirit and was especially known for his charismatic personality and genuine concern for others. He had a habit of putting others before himself. If he thought somebody was hungrier than him, he would give up his food, if somebody was colder than he was, he would give them his coat, and if somebody needed a comfortable place to rest and he had a place available, he would sacrifice his own comfort for theirs. He was a man that put everything he had into the things he was working on. Effort was important to him, whether it be work-related, relationships, or any other life circumstances. After graduating high school from Benton Harbor Schools in 1981, Mark had worked a series of jobs but ended up finding a career in landscaping. He took pride in the services he had to offer and made sure that all of his customers were satisfied with his work before he left. He enjoyed staying busy so in his off time, he could be found by a body of water fishing or in a garden maintaining his vegetables. Mark brought a lot of joy to many lives and will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Mark was preceded in passing by both of his parents, Rex Coburn and Margaret Wood; his loving step-dad, Darryl; and three siblings, Roxanne, Cindy, and Michael Coburn. He is survived by his loving partner, Sonya Schultz; a host of cousins; two aunts, Judy and Barbara; and many other family members and friends. A family and friends’ visitation will be held on Monday, December 27th, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 521 East Main Street, Niles.
