Obituary of Carl Dwayne Schuck

Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carl D. Schuck, 88, of Niles, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home, on December 12, 2021. He was born to the late Albert and Juanita (Phillips) Schuck almost eighty-nine years ago on December 28, 1933. For those who knew Carl at all they would know that he was an old-fashioned, hard-working, honest individual. With an eighth-grade education and a mindset on providing for his family, he knew that with a strong work ethic, he could do anything. Carl stepped into the workforce at a young age, as many men in his generation did, and started a family shortly after. He married his soulmate, Vivian “Carol” Phillips on November 22, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana. Together they had five boys who eventually gave them eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. From the beginning of his life, family was always important to Carl. He was raised with both of his parents, as well as eight other siblings. Carl was known as a great provider, a firm hand, and one of the hardest working men you could meet. He worked to provide, but he also worked so he could make the most of his free time. His career as a long-haul truck driver started when he was younger and lasted until he started his own landscaping business in 1968. There were a lot of late nights and early mornings but he always made sure his family was well fed with a roof over their heads. When Carl wasn’t busy working he really enjoyed the things in life that were stress-free. Boating, camping, and traveling all over the United States were the things he looked forward to the most. One of Carl’s most prized possessions was his Honda Goldwing. Carol and Carl went as many places as time would allow them. Some of their most memorable trips were in California, Texas, and Arizona. He was a man who didn’t mind earning the great things in his life. He was somebody that others looked up to, learned from, and listened to. Carl was a great husband, father, and a dear friend to many, he will be missed by all that knew him. Carl is preceded in passing by both of his parents, Albert and Juanita (Phillips) Schuck; two of his loving sons, Stanley and Steven Schuck; all of his siblings, Albert Schuck, Peggy Popkie, Norma Young, Billy Schuck, Marvin Schuck, Shelby Turney, Dennis Schuck, Richard Schuck, and Bonnie Holly. Family members surviving Carl include his wife and best friend, Carol (Phillips) Schuck; his remaining three sons, Mark, Carl, and Brett Schuck; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other friends, family, and loved ones. Funeral services for Carl will take place at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Friday, December 17th, 2021, with a two-hour visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ceremonies following directly after at 11:00 a.m. A public burial will take place following all services at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Memorial Contributions may be made out to the First Missionary Baptist Church in Buchanan, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services, of Niles.
