When someone you have known most of your life...and Gary and I were friends from elementary school...it's hard to imagine them passing away. You tend to think of lifelong friends in the context where you knew them best...from junior high school at Zimmerman and high school at Flint Southwestern...those times and experiences and conversations flood one's memories...memories that almost become fixed in time. Those memories are precious and as you reflect on them, you miss your friend. But that sadness for me soon turns to joy knowing Gary knew the Savior and is now in heaven. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live." Gary left this mortal life for an immortal one...forevermore.

Farewells are sad...but that sadness is soon replaced by the joy knowing Gary is in heaven. We will see him again. John 11:25-26. Until then Gary...

i worked with Gary and helped him with his route if he had over flow. Gary was a person I looked forward to seeing and talking to everyday, I was glad to help him when I could. He always had something funny to say and if you had a question he usually had an answer. I was really sad to hear of his passing and will miss him greatly, he was a very good man, his family should be very proud of him, he was very liked by his fellow employees, we will all miss him. God Bless all of you!

Mick played basketball and tennis with Gary at John Wesley College. He was a gifted athlete with a gentle spirit.
After college Mick and Gary spent a summer in Niles painting together, playing tennis and occasionally we ate together.
Dawn has a fun memory at John Wesley College one summer when Gary offered to take her to dinner provided that she drive.
She laughed that he was more interested in her "hot" Plymouth Barracuda.
We remember that Gary had a love for the Lord.
We left Niles in 1986 and lost touch with Gary and Annette, but not our affection for them.
We are grateful we will one day be reunited for eternity. Our prayers for Annette and the family will continue.

Gary was my first college roommate at John Wesley College 50 years ago. We played soccer together for 2 years and I cheered him on in Basketball as I was team manager. He introduced me to his favorite music at that time which included Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears. Every time I hear their music I'm reminded of Gary. Although we didn't see each other very many times over these past 50 years we celebrated knowing Jesus Christ as Savior. I look forward to a heavenly reunion. Prayers for Annette, children, grandchildren and close friends. Love you Gary!

I'm really sad to hear about this, I worked with Gary for about 14 years, he used to sneak candy to my daughter while she was in my van at work and occasionally we stopped for breakfast when our routes overlapped. He was always so kind and friendly, and he would make us laugh in the mornings around the warehouse. He was really one of my favorite people, he never judged me like others did. God has a place for him, I'm sure.
