Obituary of David Lee Gordy

David Lee Gordy Sr., 68, of Niles passed away at home on Thursday, July 12, 2012. David was born on October 2, 1943 to the late Leland and Edna (Williams) Gordy in South Bend, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Pavlovic on February 3, 1962. Together they had three children. David worked as a brick layer with his step father John for many years. He lived a big part of his life in Illinois and in the late 60's he moved his family to Michigan. He started his own business DG Enterprises which included general contracting, brick laying, masonry work, tile and remodeling. He enjoyed playing chess, cards, dice and was an avid pool player. On December 10, 1999 David wed Pamela. David is survived by his children Tamera "Tammy" (Dan) Williams of Dowagiac, Michelle (James) Lawson of Dowagiac, David (Alysia) Gordy Jr. of Coloma, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren with two on the way, his wife Pamela (Parrish) Gordy, and a half sister Rev. Lee Chiaramonte of Kansas. He is preceded in death by his mother Edna Kalmus, father Leland Gordy, Stepfather John Kalmus, and the mother of his children Barbara Jean Woollet. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services with a time of visitation one hour prior. Pastor Michael Fields from Bright Star Tabernacle in Eau Claire will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made in David's name to his children in care of Tamera Williams at 521 East Main Street Niles, Michigan 49120 or St. Jude's Hospital who provided his pacemaker and defibrillator.
