Obituary of Sharon Diane Reed
Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharon D. Reed, 70, of Niles, peacefully passed away at home on November 12, 2021.
Sherry was born March 14, 1951, to the late Art McLean and Sheryl (Goodnow) Walker in Niles, Michigan.
Sherry grew up in Niles with both of her parents and six other siblings. Family was something she valued her entire life. At seventeen years old Sherry rode to a local gas station on her bike and unknowingly met the man who would eventually become the love of her life and the father to her three children, Fred Reed. Sherry and Fred were married on March 22, 1969, in Niles and decided to raise their family in the area as well. Becoming a mother was one of the biggest highlights of her life. Eventually, she became a grandma to six grandchildren, and a great-grandma to six grandkids with two more on the way. Sherry was a homemaker for her family and spent most of her life giving out as much love as she could. Her favorite thing to do was spoil those she cared about. As a family, they loved to go on special trips to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. During the summer months, they would also visit the Potawatomi Zoo and have lunch at Brown’s Chicken. It also wouldn’t have surprised anybody to see her at any of the local race tracks supporting her husband during his races. As a couple, the Reeds were known as the community mom and dad. Sherry would have given her shirt off her back to somebody who needed it. When she was taking some time for herself, she enjoyed watching the game show network while eating Hershey bars and twinkies with her chihuahua, Maggie, by her side. She was also notorious for her love of bingo and her trips to the casino; slots were her favorite. Sherry was a perfect example of what it means to be a giving person. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those she took care of during the course of her life.
Sherry is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Reed; her parents, Art McLean and Sheryl (Goodnow) Walker; her only son, Philip Reed; and her brother, Bob Mclean.
She is survived by her two daughters, Paula (Kevin) Snyder of Niles, and Samantha (Rick) Reed of Niles; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren with two more on the way; her siblings, Mike McLean, Kathy Underwood, Lisa McLean, Dottie Kedik-Keil, and Nancy Hupp; as well as many other family members and friends.
A public visitation will be held at the Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, beginning at five p.m. and ending at eight p.m. Funeral services for Sherry will be held the following day, Thursday, November 18, 2021, beginning at 1 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Caring Circle Hospice.
