Obituary of Starlet Jackson

Please share a memory of Starlet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Starlet was born in Memphis, TN on April 30, 1965, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Betty Jackson. She was one of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Darlene McFarland-Jackson, Angelia Broyles, and Toney Jackson. Desiring better opportunities, her father moved the family to Benton Harbor, Michigan when Starlet was a 1-year-old, which is where she grew up. Throughout her childhood and teenage years, Starlet attended Benton Harbor School districts; in her senior year, she attended and graduated from Coloma High School in the Class of 1984. Starlet loved working with her hands, so she pursued her certificates in Graphic Arts & Carpentry. She also completed her Associate degree in Medical, Billing, and Coding in 2010. Starlet was independent, a hard worker, and loved to travel so she never settled into one place for long; this gave her numerous opportunities to experience various employment which included Home Health Care, Bibco, Batson Printing & DoD government employee, just to name a few. More importantly, Starlet committed her life to Jesus, Her Lord and Savior, she loved her family deeply and cherished every moment she spent with them. Starlet had a unique laughter; a beautiful smile that lights up a room and she gave of herself continuously. She enjoyed ushering and being a greeter at church, she had a servant’s heart. Throughout her adulthood, she made many sacrifices to meet the needs and requests of others in the family. She exemplified this verse of scripture in Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves”. Starlet was an encourager; even when she was going through her hard, difficult seasons, she found time to encourage her friends and family. She loved bible study and although she was restricted to move around, she would find time to listen to sermon messages online. Starlet was also connected to a women’s group (Sister2Sister), and she would always log in to send encouraging messages to other women even when she could not speak like she used to, she simply texted what her heart was speaking. Starlet would often reflect on this scripture: Isaiah 40:29-31 “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD, Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Starlet ran her race, she kept the faith and finished her course on November 6, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memories: Three Children, Sophia Jackson, Demetrice Edwards (Sade), and Omari Jackson; 2 grandchildren: Demetrice Edwards ii, Dyarie Edwards; siblings: Helen Henderson (Anthony), Emanuel Jackson (Tamekia), Kim Parker (Misiri Sr) and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends. Starlet would often end her conversation with “LOVE YOU ALL”, those 3 words, her beautiful smile, laughter, encouraging words, and giving heart will all be missed; but her presence will continue to live on within our hearts.
