Obituary of Billie Lee Seastrom

Please share a memory of Billie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Billie L. Seastrom, 62, of Niles, passed away at the IU Health University Hospital on October 30th, 2021 due to complications with cancer. He was born on January 26th, 1959 in Freemont, Michigan, to the late Wilmer and Nila (Kersteter) Seastrom. Billie was born and raised in the Michiana area. Graduating from Brandywine High School and living in Niles the majority of his life helped shape who he was. He was a man’s man; Billie was an excellent fisherman, a fine hunter, and could build or fix just about anything he put his mind to. If he wasn’t spending time with his family, one could always find him outside. Family was always important to Billie; he grew up with both of his parents and six other siblings. He knew from a young age that he wanted to have a family and on August 20, 1983, he married the woman that he would spend the rest of his life with, Jana Franks. Together they had two children, Janel and Joshua. Having children was one of the best things that happened for Billie. He was known to be a great host and was the man with a pig roaster. If there was a family event, a party, or any other kind of get-together, Billie was the guy running the roaster for hours on end, making sure that everyone in attendance would have a full stomach. Growing up with a large family taught him how to cook for a small crowd. His large family also taught him how to work well with others. Billie was a very charismatic individual and had a huge impact on those he gave his time to. As a supervisor for a local plastics company, Billie managed many people throughout the years. He was an excellent boss and created a great working environment for all those he managed. Although cancer cut his life short, the impact Billie had on those he surrounded himself with will be remembered forever. His friends, family, and community will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Nila Seastrom. Billie is survived by his loving wife, Jana Seastrom; his two children, Janel (Brent) Youngman of Edwardsburg, and Joshua Seastrom of Niles; his soon to be granddaughter, Makayla Lee Youngman; his six siblings, Debbie (Ron) Ingle of Niles, Mark Seastrom of Edwardsburg, Denise (George) Baxter of Ravanna, Michigan, Cindi Seastrom of Niles, Matlock (Cindy) Seastrom of Cassopolis, and Robin Meador of Niles; as well as many surviving in-laws, friends, and other family members. Billie’s family will be remembering him privately at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Billie’s wife, Jana Seastrom.
