Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Dawn True Overton, 77, of Berrien Center, Michigan, peacefully passed away at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Friday, October 29, 2021, with her family in attendance. She was born Friday, September 15, 1944 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Leo Vern and Tressie Elizabeth (Hofmeister) True. Patricia grew up in South Bend with her parents and larger family. She was the last of 9 children. She graduated from Washington High School, class of 1962. Shortly after graduating high school, Patricia married the love of her life, Larry Edward Overton on September 22, 1962 in South Bend. Patricia and Larry had 4 sons, Larry II, David, Steven, and Roberto. The family moved to Berrien Center, Michigan in February, 1970, where Larry and Patricia have resided since then. When the boys were in junior high school Patricia started working for Eau Claire Public Schools, helping in the lunchroom, as a teacher's aid and finally as a bus driver, a position she held until she retired. Patricia's passions in her life were her love for God and her family. Her faith in God was the anchor for how she lived her life and loved her family, and constantly shared her faith with any and all that she could. As for her family, it did not matter if you were blood-related or not. If you were in her life she considered you family and there was always room for more. There are countless people who consider her Mom or Grandma. Her loving and welcoming heart will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Leo Vern and Tressie Elizabeth (Hofmeister) True and her sisters Lois, Cleo, Lavon and Tressie and brother Forrest. She is survived by her husband Larry Overton, her sons and their spouses, Larry and Chris, David and Patty, Steven and Julie Gard, and Roberto and Rachel, 7 grandchildren; Jerod, Steven II, Brandi, Savannah, Roberto Jr., Cielo, and Karl, 4 great-grandchildren; Leah, Raeghan, Thaniel and Emmet, and her sisters; May, Sherrilyn and Laverne. A public visitation will be held for Patricia on Sunday, November 14, 2021, starting at 2:00 p.m. at Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Dowagiac, MI. with Memorial Services beginning at 3:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. David Helmuth. A meal will be served immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tupelo Children's Mansion in Tupelo, Mississippi. https://mansionkids.org/give/tribute-gifts/ Condolences, photos, and memories may be left for the family www.BrownFuneralHomeNiles.com. One of Patricia's most memorable qualities was her determination to get working on whatever project was at hand. If you ever discussed an idea with her, by the time you finished the conversation she would not only have helped you lay out the necessary steps to complete the project, but would have already started the wheels in motion for the first step or two. Four of her most common words were, "Well, why don't you...". In her mind there was no reason to wait to get started. So if you have something you have been thinking of doing, "Well, why don't you?...".
