Obituary of Joyce Henry

Joyce O. Henry, 85, of Cassopolis, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, at her home. She was born in Cassopolis, Michigan on May 9, 1936, to the late Paul and Margaret (Gilliam) Ash. Joyce moved to Milwaukee, where she made her home for fifty years. She worked in her aunt’s restaurant for several years before going to work at Brills Clothing Store, she then continued her work career at Dunn & Bradstreet; and then later retiring from the personnel department for the City of Milwaukee. She was known as a kind and generous person, always giving to others when she could. Joyce enjoyed the excitement of attending and placing the occasional bet at the horse and dog tracks. When the casinos began opening she would make regular visits. She never gambled a lot, just enough to keep it interesting. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Wilhelmine Cross, Willard James, JoAnn Pompey, Dennis Ash, and Shirley Ann Lee. Joyce is survived by her son, Christopher Henry of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters, Charlene Lee and Betty Ash; brother, Larry (Cathy) Ash, all of Cassopolis; along with a host of nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery in Calvin Center, Michigan.
