Obituary of Daniel Elliot Jackling
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel “Dan” Eliott Jackling, 72, passed suddenly Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, at his residence in Niles, MI.
He was born April 7th, 1949, in the city of Monrovia, CA. Dan spent his childhood in Sedona, AZ, where he and his older brother, Jerry, helped their father build multiple homes. He graduated high school, then attended college, just before being drafted for the U.S. Army in 1969. Dan was an honored Vietnam Veteran and took pride in his service. His military service experiences carried with him throughout the entirety of his life. After returning from war, Dan began working at Con Rock, where he helped to build Anaheim Stadium. He then became a California Contractor and continued building homes with his father, Joseph. In 1977, Dan was blessed with his first and only son, Daniel J. Jackling. He continued the tradition of father-son home building and in early 2000’s became grandfather to his three loving grandchildren, Haylee Shahan, Camran “Pumpkin” Jackling, and Quinton Jackling. Dan’s grandchildren were the most cherished part of his life. He loved sharing historical family details and making memories with them, one of which being a trip to Niagara Falls in 2019. One subject Dan loved to share was the historical research he completed on his past relative, D.C. Jackling, an extraordinary engineer of his time. D.C. Jackling pioneered large scale copper mining and treatment of low-grade copper ores. In conversation, Dan also loved to talk about his love of the California sun and his boating adventures at Lake Mohave in Arizona. He said these were “some of the best times of his life”. Dan dedicated the last years of his life to spending as much time as possible with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Inez (Adams) Jackling, and by his brother, Jerry Jackling.
He is survived in life by his son, grandchildren, and brother, Jody Jackling.
Family of Mr. Jackling will be celebrating his life privately and plan to spread his ashes, per his wishes, at the place he loved most - Lake Mohave Arizona.
