Obituary of John Sellers

John "Jack" H. Sellers, 85, of Granger, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at his home peacefully with his family by his side. John was born on April 14, 1936, in Mishawaka, Indiana to John and Mildred (Guyon) Sellers, Sr. He lived most of his young adult life in Niles, Michigan where he graduated from Niles High School and ventured out of the area when he joined the United States Navy in 1956. John served proudly on the USS Hornet where he was stationed in San Diego, California and traveled worldwide during his time of service, from 1956-1960 when he was honorable discharged. On April 5, 1963, he wed Lori Stowe at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan and this year they celebrated 58 years of blissful marriage. She said of her husband, he was quite simply the perfect husband. John enjoyed his career of being an electrical journeyman, and the opportunity to travel with Lori by his side. Those who had the opportunity to spend time with John could very quickly surmise that his passions were most assuredly his family, especially his wife and grandchildren. His family remarked that he spent his life making sure their needs were met and spoiling them. His most coveted titles were Poppy or Papa, and he was adored by his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jocelyn Bahs and nephew John Michael Bailey. John is survived by his wife, Lori Sellers, his children, Tracey (Jerry) Bosson of Missouri, Kelly Shepard of Granger and Jeffrey (Jessica) Sellers of Mishawaka; his grandchildren, Dustin Bosson, Bretland Bosson, Whitney Shepard, Jordan Shepard, Nicholas Peiffer, Cameron Peiffer, Kimberly Sellers, and Karley Sellers; his great-grandchildren, Emily Scheiber, Molly Mow, Kenntyn Bosson, Laetynn Bosson and Kamdynn Gail Bosson. John is also survived by his nieces, Rachelle Jenkins, Kimberly Porlier, and Crystal Mears, and nephew, Don Bailey. In keeping with John’s wishes cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled at this time.
