Obituary of Ronnie Alan Batson

Ronnie A. Batson, 56, of Niles passed away at his home surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. He made is appearance into this world on July 13, 1965 in Niles, Michigan to William “Bill” and Janice (Krueger) Batson. Born and raised in Niles, Ronnie graduated from Brandywine in 1983. After graduating, Ronnie, who wasn’t prone to letting the grass grow under his feet started working. Right out of the gate he began working for Duoform plastics of Edwardsburg, Michigan. He enjoyed working there so much that he stayed for 35 years. He married Diane Kupper on September 3, 1993 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they have been going on adventures ever since. Ronnie loved the outdoors and would frequently garden, fish and mushroom hunt (no we can’t tell you where). When not outdoors, he loved to play pool, watch sports and be with his wonderful family. He also enjoyed taking vacations to Treasure Island, Florida. He felt that the beach was always a perfect place to relax. He enjoyed football and was a big fan of both University of Michigan and The Indianapolis Colts. He once received a phone call from Peyton Manning and it was a very special moment for him. Peyton told him to “stay with the fight” against cancer. Along with football he loved Indy car racing and he was a lifelong hockey fan of the Detroit Red Wings. He was an avid griller and everyone enjoyed his array of barbequed creations. Ronnie might be perceived by some as tough but if you were to get him in a room with his grandkids he would transform into a giant teddy bear. He adored them immensely and one of his very favorite titles was Papa. Ronnie was preceded in death by his father, William Batson and mother in law Connie Kupper. He is survived by his wife, Diane Batson; his children, Brett Batson and Brittany (David) Dykema, and their two children Jax and Lola. He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas Batson of Niles and Bobby (Lisa) Batson and their daughter Lexi Batson of Indiana; along with his mother, Janice Batson and his father in law Richard Kupper, both of Niles. Services to celebrate Ronnie will take place at Brown Funeral Home at 12 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 with Pastor Joseph Liss officiating. A time of visitation will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A private interment will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
