Harold will be greatly missed. I first got to know Harold when I was about 8 years old. My parents became friends with Harold & Linda and stayed close to this day. I can remember going swimming at there house in town. In the early 70's, my dad bought a couple of snowmobiles and a couple of motorcycles from Harold. We got to vacation with Harold, Linda, Shelly and Jill at Houghton lake. Both summer and winter. Harold would take all us kids skiing. I saw Harold race both snowmobiles and boats. He was a big reason I got interested in those sports.
When I was 14, Harold gave me a job at the marina on Saturdays. He even picked me up and took me home. Not many bosses do that! He would even let us take boats on the river for own pleasure. If you needed something all you had to do is ask. Every time he saw me, he always had a big smile and a “Hey Rodney” for me. I can't say enough about how well he treated me.

Smitty was a true gentlemen, a very honest person who never sought out accolades. He was a terrific yacht salesmen, always remembering the smallest detail about customers and their vessels. People liked Smitty, he was very likeable! He was great with details and knew his product. Most importantly, Smitty was a great role model. He was someone that anyone from any profession could learn from. The boating community has lost an icon.
