Obituary of Edith Hall

Please share a memory of Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edith was called to her heavenly home on August 6, 2012. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Edith was born on March 2, 1928 to Claude and Vera Morse in Poplar Bluff, MO. She married Charles ST Hall in February 1946. They relocated their young family to Benton Harbor, MI in 1949 where they raised a family of five. Charles passed away in December, 1967. She was lucky enough to find love again and married Murrell Spruell in July, 1969. Murrell passed away in August of 1979. Edith has many jewels in her crown and leaves behind a large family who will miss her dearly. Her loving children Sherry (Clifford) Still of Bradford, AR, Sheila (Larry) Howarth of Benton Harbor, Robert (Heather) Hall of Benton Harbor, and Mary (Bud) Radtke of Hartford, MI, grandchildren; Kim (Gary) Rochefort, Traci (Brad) Smith, Shawn (Crystie) Williams, Carrie, Travis & Dustin Radtke, Robert Jr. (Jamie), Amy & Heidi Hall, and David Skoda, great-grandchildren; Kelsey Bauschke, Zachary & Zayden Rochefort, Kylie, Katie, Nathan & Kendall Williams, Robert Hall, Dominique & Darius Nickens, Krystal Hall, Jacqueline & Liliana Solis, Paris & Hailey Rondo and Charly Klett, great-great-grandchildren Jaysen Bauschke and Nathan Willming. Also surviving are brother Archie Lynn (Sheila) Morse and stepchildren, Bobby Gene (Chris) Spruell, Sandy Dunn, Debra (Harold) Bush and Cheryl Billett. She also leaves very special "chosen" relatives, David Barker of Benton Harbor, John Williamson of Watervliet and Wendy Hall of Niles. Edith was very proud of her family and played an active part in each of their lives, nothing meant more to her. The world will be forever changed because of who she was to all who loved her. Edith grew up during the Depression and went without many things. She always said that even though they didn't have much, they were happy. She loved to tell stories of her and her brothers sharing socks and shoes, playing with old tin cans, and listening to her mama sing. Those struggles were the reason she loved shopping, especially for groceries, clothes, shoes and bedding! She particularly enjoyed Meijer, JCPenney and TJMaxx. She vowed that her family would never know what it was like to do without and she worked hard to see that she kept that promise. She loved to cook and will always be remembered for her gravy and chicken n dumplings. She loved flowers, had quite a green thumb and could grow just about anything. Edith was a staunch southern Democrat to the core and enjoyed "debating" politics. Although she held several different jobs through the years, Edith was employed the longest by Whirlpool. She was a very dedicated union member & supporter and was proud to carry a picket sign when necessary. She volunteered with the United Way program. She was known for organizing huge holiday dinners for her co-workers. She retired in 1984. Edith was a proud member of the Red Arrow General Baptist Church in Benton Harbor and especially loved Southern Gospel music. Edith was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia and her son, Charles, her beloved parents Claude & Vera Morse, her stepmother, Ida Morse, her husband Charles, her husband Murrell, a special friend, Andy Zelko, her brothers; Claude Morse Jr., Cecil Morse, Bobby Carl Morse and grandchildren Jason Hall and Skyler Hall. Rather than sending flowers, memorials may be made to The Area Agency on Aging, Hospice At Home or Red Arrow General Baptist Church.
