Obituary of Debra Diane Gubi

Please share a memory of Debra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Debra D. Gubi, 65, of Niles, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Niles, Michigan on March 14, 1956, to Ronald and Gladys (Peterson) Murphy. Debra graduated on June 5, 1974, from Brandywine High School. At the age of eighteen, Debra went to work for the United States Post office, from which she retired in 2009. On July 28, 1979, she married the love of her life, Gary L. Gubi. Together they enjoyed a lot of hobbies. Along with a couple of other family members, they also owned GG’S Place in South Bend during the late eighty’s early nineties. Later, Debra and Gary owned a craft/woodworking business, Gubi’s Workbench. Together they traveled to many arts and craft shows and maintained a craft booth at various craft stores though-out the years. Debra loved to sew, garden, plant flowers and just be outside. She was always landscaping and working in her beautiful backyard. She was an amazing Mom and loved her family with all she had; she would often tell them “I love you more than you’ll ever know”. She was always there to help and support her family, attending her grandkid's sporting events and just spending time together. She was very proud of her grandma nickname “Paka”, which her granddaughter Mackenzie had given her. Debra was a very special person to many and was taken way too soon. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald D. Murphy. Debra will be forever remembered by her loving husband, Gary L. Gubi of Niles; daughter, Heather (Ralph) Norton of Niles; stepdaughter Melissa (Danny) Sharp of Middlebury, Indiana; stepson, Gary (Chris) Gubi Jr. of Elkhart, Indiana; four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Dominic, Joshua, Seth, one great-grandchild; her mother Gladys Murphy of Inglis, FL; brothers Duane Murphy & Brad (Sharon) Murphy. Debra will also be forever remembered by her many nieces, nephews and extended family, and dear friends. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St Jude’s Hospital.
