Obituary of Billy Joe Hopkins

Billy Joe Hopkins was born on June 16, 1940, to the late Willie "Bill" Hopkins and Lillie Mabel (Craig) Taylor. God chose to take him on May 4th, 2021. Billy Joe wed Verla Hamm on June 12, 1965, in Kentucky. He attended Huron Street Church of Christ in Niles. He worked for Western Electric in Cincinnati, moved to Cleveland, and retired from AT&T in Niles in 1990. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, photography, and jigsaw puzzles. His mother, father, and step-father, Willie J. Taylor preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Verla (Hamm) Hopkins; daughter, Renee (Eric) Wolfe of Canton, Ohio; son, Nathan Hopkins of Niles, Michigan; and a granddaughter, Reagan Wolfe of UC Cincinnati. Billy Joe’s family will be holding a private service. He will be laid to rest at Smith’s Chapel Cemetery on Redfield Road in Niles.
