Phyllis Carlson, 81, of Niles, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Brentwood of Niles. She was born in Dowagiac, Michigan on September 3, 1939, to the late James and Louise (Pierce) Boughton. Phyllis was a Registered Nurse for twenty-two years. Later she worked at the post office and Tyler Refrigeration. She was very active in volunteering her time at Fernwood Botanical Gardens, a member of the Red Hat Society, a sorority sister of the Beta Chi Alpha Omega. Phyllis was a very caring and loving person; she gave of herself without measure. Her most treasured moments were spent with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bernie Boughton; and her daughter Chris. Phyllis is survived by her son, Don (Debra) Carlson of Niles; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her brother Pat Boughton of Cassopolis, Michigan A memorial service will held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E Main St, Niles, Michigan. A time of visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to Fernwood Botanical Gardens, 13988 Range Line Rd. Niles, MI 49120.
