Obituary of Debra Ann Akey
Please share a memory of Debra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Debra A. Akey, 50, of Mishawaka, formerly of Niles, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021, at the Center for Hospice, in Mishawaka, Indiana.
She was born in South Bend, Indiana on January 21, 1971, to Pamela Haney.
Debra was always the life of the party, always up for an adventure, a ride on the Harley, or even at times willing to hand out a good “butt-kicking”. She was outgoing, bubbly, and everyone loved her. Debra will be fondly remembered as the blonde waitress at Jeannie’s Café on Stateline Road in Niles. Her most treasured moments were spent with her family; she would have done anything in the world for them.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; John and Joan Haney.
Debra is survived by her fiancé, Kevin Kahlmorgan of Mishawaka; daughter, Danielle (Justin) Fredricks of Niles; son, Chad Edstrom of Niles, one grandson, Denver; her mother, Pamela Kovatch of South Bend; and a special aunt, Patti Schlarb of South Bend.
A walk thru visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main St. Niles, Michigan.
