Obituary of Patty Bultema

Patty Lou Bultema, 81, of St. Joseph passed away at Lakeland Continuing Care on Thursday, August 23, 2012. She was born on July 2, 1931 to the late Henry and Myrtle (Bigelow) Courtney in Hartford, Michigan. Patty spent most of her working life in the care of the elderly at Carson's retirement home and later at Oles Homestead for the aged. As a child she suffered from polio which later led to the disability which would cause her to retire early. She lived at Lakeview Terrace Highrise and enjoyed watching her TV shows and having visitors, going to weekly bible study and her weekly outing with friends. She was also a longtime member of Fairplain Seventh Day Adventist Church in Benton Harbor. When she wasn't working she would often baby sit for others and in that way she became Nanny to many…and each of you knows who you are. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister Mary Bryant. Patty is survived by her daughter Bonnie (Scott) Lewis of Benton Harbor, grand children David and Elizabeth Lewis of Benton Harbor, a sister Bonnie (Bert) Rowe of Buchanan, Michigan and many other friends and family members. In keeping with Patty's wishes she has been cremated and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Sarett Nature Center located at 2300 Benton Center Rd. in Benton Harbor.
