Obituary of Jimmie Lee Brown

Mrs. Jimmie Lee (Smith) Brown, 83, of Benton Harbor, passed away at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Jimmie was born on November 27, 1937, to the late Jimmie and Ethel (Leslie) Smith in Caruthersville, Missouri. After high school, Jimmie went on to later wed Malry Brown Jr. Together the two raised their nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie Smith and Ethel Fulton; children, Ronnie Smith, Carmel Brown, Wanda Brown, and Debbie Brown; and siblings, Robert Taylor, Freddie Smith, Christine Cooper, Beatrice Smith, Perry Smith, and Bertha Oliver. Jimmie is survived by her children, Brenda Dockins of Kalamazoo, Grace Anderson of West Memphis, Arkansas, Stanley Brown of Benton Harbor, Melanie Brown of Benton Harbor, and Malry (Slorasha Bess) Brown III of Benton Harbor; 22 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Leslie of Benton Harbor; and many extended family members and close friends. A homegoing service to honor and celebrate Jimmie’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church located at 1105 East Main Street, Benton Harbor, at noon with a time of visitation one hour prior. Apostle Linus Thompson will be officiating and interment will follow at North Shore Memory Garden.
