James W. Loggains, 84, of Kalamazoo, formerly of Berrien Center, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Upjohn Community Care Center in Kalamazoo, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 12, 1928 in Desha, Arkansas to the late Oliver Monroe and Effie (Martin) Loggains. On May 31, 1946 James married Pauline Moore at a ceremony in Trumann, Arkansas. James was a dedicated worker and retired from Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan after many years of service as a supervisor. John also was a talented woodworker and enjoyed fishing in his younger years. He was also a great athlete playing baseball in the AAA minor leagues. His love of baseball continued as he was an avid Cubs fan. James also bowled on leagues for many years with his friends from Clark Equipment Company. He was a member of the Buchanan Masonic Lodge #68 F&A.M. He is survived by his wife Pauling Loggains of Kalamazoo, a daughter Paula French (Tammy Vollrath) of Kalamazoo, a son James Jr. (Nan) Loggains of Attleboro, Massachusets, three gandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three sisters; Katherine Manrey of Niles, Dean (Milton) Cooper of Arkansas and Betty (Buddy) Johnson of Niles. In keeping with James' wishes cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later time. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Oakwood Bible Church 4100 Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49008.
