Obituary of Richard Dale Adams

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard D. Adams. 68, of Niles passed away unexpectedly, at his home on Friday, February 19, 2021 of natural causes. In Niles, Michigan on June 8, 1952 he was born to the late Robert and Flora “Evelina” (Gipson) Adams. He enlisted in the US Army where he served proudly. Upon returning home from the service Richard started his family of whom he loved to be around. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with his grandbabies and loved to babysit them, have slumber parties and watch movies. Calls from Rich to his family were common; he deeply cared for them and called to check on them frequently. He enjoyed watching car racing and trips to the casino. Rich was known for his generosity and his home was open to anyone who needed a place to stay or just somewhere to sit and chat, many affectionately referred to him as “Papa Rich”. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, he loved walks around the neighborhood, and many will miss the practical jokes that he played on unsuspecting friends and family. He was preceded by his parents; a son, Jeremy Adams and a sister Carol Adams. Rich is survived by his children Bridgett (Tim) Yoder of Niles, Shelli (Josh) Filson of LaPorte, Cierha (Freddy) Adams-Lary of Niles, and Cory (Leah Gogliardo) Hubbard of Niles; his 16 grandchildren, Skylin Yoder, Allie Yoder, Tyris Yoder, Alayna Adams, Cameron Vanderbutts, Alivia Filson, Sophia Filson, Jaylen Hubbard, Brad Covington, Layla Covington, Kaydence Cross, Evan Lary, Mckenzie Lary, Jasmine Lary, Olivia Lary and Xavier Lary. one great-grandchild, Stone Sharp and three sisters, Kathy (Gary) Adams –Schinske of Greenville, Michigan, Cynthia (Kenneth) Adams-Lambardo of Taylor, Michigan and Vicki (Beto) Adams-Arellano of Niles. In keeping with Rich’s wishes, cremation has taken place and his family will be remembering him privately. Those wishing to make a memorial donation have been asked to consider Rich’s family in care of Brown Funeral Home. Photos and memories may be shared with his family at www.BrownFuneralHomeNiles.com.
