Obituary of Charlene Ann McClane

Charlene A. McClane, 89, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at Lakeland Hospital in Niles, Michigan. She was born in Buchanan, Michigan on November 15, 1931, to the late Charles and Georgia (Beistle) Bachman. After graduating from Buchanan High School, Charlene married Rexford Lintner, and to that union, a daughter and son were born. After his untimely passing, she met Donald McClane. They were married in February of 1954, and to that union, one daughter was born, they eventually moved to Niles. Charlene was the consummate mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Brandywine Booster Club, room mother, and second mom to her children’s friends. Charlene created a warm, welcoming home where everyone wanted to hang out. She was an avid University of Michigan sports fan and loved reading, knitting, and gardening. She was a longtime member of the Buchanan Women’s Moose Lodge 449, where she held several chair positions, including; Senior Regent from 1979 to 1980. She was very proud of earning her College of Regents honor in 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; Richard Bachman, Marion Swank, Mildred Mattix, Joseph Bachman, Robert Bachman; first husband, Rexford Lintner; second husband, Donald G. McClane; daughter, Cherill Casner; and grandson, Sean Renaghan. Charlene is survived by her son, Charles E. (Debbie) Lintner of Niles; daughter, Donna J. (Dave) Thompson of Niles; three grandchildren, Patrick (Lorin) Renaghan; Sarah Renaghan; Ashley (Kraig) Glidden; one great-granddaughter, Amber Crandall; four great-great-grandchildren, Allie Glidden, Kane Glidden, Serena Albany, and Frank Albany; along with a host of nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Buchanan, or to a local pet refuge.
