Obituary of William Leaveret Zehm
Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William Leaveret Zehm, 93, of Berrien Springs, passed away at his home, with his family by his side, on Sunday, December 6, 2020.
William was born on June 1, 1927, in Ismay, Montana, to the late Henry and Alice (Hildreth) Zehm.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly in the Korean War. William earned his Master’s Degree in Education in Biology. He was a lifelong teacher, who enjoyed passing knowledge on to his pupils. William was a proud member of the Stevensville Seventh Day Adventist Church in Stevensville.
On August 25, 1954, at a service in Waitsburg, Washington, William married the love of his life, T. Corinne Pflugrad. They were happily married for over 62 years, until Corinne’s passing in 2016.
William was a quiet kind of guy. He did not have a lot to say most of the time but when he did talk you would want to listen to the stories of a lifetime of service he would share. If you could get him talking, he had lived so long that the things he had witnessed would be amazing in their variety and scope.
He is preceded in death by his wife, T. Corinne Zehm; parents; and siblings, Bob Zehm and Wynona Breen.
William will be missed by his children, Karen (Martin) Roe of Baltic, South Dakota, Allan (Shannon) Zehm of Angwin, California, Dawn (William) Gatewood of Ceresco, Michigan, and Kenneth (Tonya) Zehm of Berrien Springs, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Waneta (Luther) Harris of Roundup, Montana; and many extended family members and close friends.
