Obituary of Lois Loretta Maxson

Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lois L. Maxson, 96, of Battle Creek passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Reflections Memory Care of Battle Creek. She was born to the late Dale and Lura (Caulkins) Brigham in Battle Creek, Michigan on June 9, 1924. After graduating from Battle Creek High School, Lois went on to wed Milton Maxson, at a very small ceremony in their pastor’s home on October 16, 1955. Shortly thereafter Lois and Milton began their family. Lois worked for many years at Post Cereal as a lab technician while raising her four children. She was a woman who needed very little to make her happy. Perhaps that had to do with growing up during the Great Depression. She learned to make meals that could feed her small army of six with very little and she could stretch a dollar for a month. Lois and Milton enjoyed traveling across the U.S. and spending winters in Florida. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and hardly missed a sporting event of theirs. Small in stature, Lois was completely overflowing with love and personality. She was always concerned for everyone else and their needs. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Lura Brigham; her husband, Milton Maxson, her daughter Cathy Maxson at age fourteen, and her brother Burt Brigham. Lois is survived by her children, Gordon Maxson of Battle Creek, Steven Maxson of Charlotte, and Sue (Ronald) Reniger of Battle Creek. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Tim (Angee) Reniger of Battle Creek, Tom Reniger of Battle Creek, Scott (Janice) Maxson of Battle Creek, Kevin (Jennah) Maxson of Charlotte, and Angela (Matt) Joppie of Vermontville, her 8 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. Private family services to celebrate Lois’ life will take place on Monday, November 30, 2020 at Friends Church in Battle Creek. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Friends Church on Monday. Lois will be laid to rest at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens In keeping with the Covid-19 guidelines, the State of Michigan requires all in attendance to follow all guidelines including, social distancing, mandatory mask, and sanitizing.
