Obituary of Larry Eugene Hamilton

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry E. Hamilton, 65, a lifelong resident of Niles passed away September 14, 2012 at the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend surrounded by his family. He was born to Wyman and Era (Owens) Hamilton in Moulton, Alabama on January 13, 1947. After graduating high school Larry began to perfect his skills and received his tool and die journeyman certification. He was most recently working at Nyloncraft, Inc. Larry's tool and die skills could be seen in many of his woodworking creations. When Larry wasn't working, he always enjoyed a good Nascar race or could be heard yelling "Go, Roll Tide" because he was a tried and true Alabama football fan. When vacation time was available you could find him on the road; he loved to travel, especially down south to visit with family. He was a life-long learner when it came to the newest gadget or piece of electronics. As they came out Larry would study, learn and finally conquer the gadget only to move to the next newest invention. Larry was a generous man, who was full of integrity. He took great pride in caring for his family. He was seen as a mentor to all who knew him. Larry was always the "Go To Man". There wasn't a problem that he didn't have the solution for. It was said that Larry could even solve problems that people didn't even know they had. His kind, nurturing heart, sense of humor and generosity will be missed by those who were lucky enough to have been apart of Larry's life. Preceding Larry are his father, Wyman and his brother Gerald Hamilton. Surviving him are his mother, Era Spencer and his step-father Wally Spencer, his loving companion, Linda Kisrow, his daughters Gina (Charles "John") Wood and April (Matt) Christy and his son Brian Hamilton all of Niles. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Tanier Wood, Kirsten Christy, Aidan Christy, and Jaxson Christy also all of Niles, his three sisters; Melba (Bruce) Mitchell of Niles, Sharon (Tom) Daus of Buchanan, and Nella (Bruce ) Ralston of Niles and his brothers Dan (Peggy) Hamilton of Niles, Dennis Hamilton of Buchanan and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to show special appreciation to all the 12th floor nurses and PCA's at Memorial Hospital, especially Dee and Ann Marie and also the Center for Hospice Care of South Bend. Visitation for Larry will be Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens with service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jim Wing will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN.
