Obituary of Valerie Denise Morin

Valerie Denise (Austin) Morin, 60, of Niles, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Friday, October 9, 2020. Valerie was born on April 30, 1960, to William and Maggie (Barnett) Austin in South Bend, Indiana. After graduating from Niles High School in 1979, Valerie went on to marry and have three children. She was a full-time mom, previously worked in security at DC Cook, and was currently working in the administration field. Valerie was a peaceful soul. She loved getting lost in a book, looking at antiques, visiting lighthouses, but most of all she enjoyed the solitude of the beach. Valerie and her family often traveled and she would be the first one to point out a unique or classic sports car or Mustang during their trip. Valerie looked forward to their family trips all over the country to sightsee and their trips to Louisiana where she loved their traditional food. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maggie Austin; father-in-law, George Morin; sister-in-law, Bobbijo Meek; and nephew, Austyn Morin. Valerie is survived by her husband, Kenneth Morin; children, Ronald Austin of Daytona Beach, Florida, Marcus Bass of Niles, and Maggie Morin of Niles; father, William B. Austin of South Bend; mother, Lillian “Emily” Austin of Niles who helped raise her from a young age; mother-in-law, Rosalinda Morin; siblings, Billian Austin of Niles and William (Patricia) Austin Jr. of South Bend; siblings-in-law, Vickie (Ken) Williams of Vermilion, Ohio, and Jamie (Amanda) Morin of Bellvue, Ohio; grandchildren, Skyler, Kaydence, Brookelyn, and Legend; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, at Mt. Calvary Church in Niles at Noon with Rev. Bryant L. Bacon Sr., officiating.
