Steven Taylor Sallee
December 19, 1972 – September 29, 2020
Steven Taylor Sallee, 47, of Niles, passed away unexpectedly but of natural causes at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
Steven was born on December 19, 1972 to the late Taylor and Sally (Roberts) Sallee in Niles. After graduating from Brandywine High School, Steven went on to work for AM General. Music was a very big part of Steven’s life. He played bass guitar in several local bands and often played at Jay’s Lounge in Niles, Cheer’s Pub in Roseland, and the Wounded Minnow Saloon in Dowagiac. He loved every aspect of music, playing, performing, learning new songs, and all the people he met along the way. In 2016 Steven began dating Lynda and soon after the two wed in Memphis, Tennessee, spending their honeymoon visiting all of the music attractions there. He was also a devoted University of Michigan football fan, NASCAR (Dale Jr.), and the Oakland Raiders. He watched every game and race, knew all the stats, and was loyal to his teams through and through.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor and Sally Sallee and his daughter, Rebekka “Bekka” Sallee.
Steven is survived by his best friend and wife, Lynda Sallee; son, Darren Sallee, of Niles; 3 grandchildren; siblings, Sheila (Andy) Riffel of Niles, Brad Sallee of Niles, and Ron Smith of Niles; and many extended family members and close friends.
Steven has been cremated and his siblings are planning a memorial service for a later date.
When I was a younger man I hadn't a care
Foolin' around, hitting the town, growing my hair
You came along and stole my heart when you entered my life
Ooh babe you got what it takes so I made you my wife
Since then I never looked back
It's almost like living a dream
And ooh I love you
You came along from far away and found me here
I was playin' around, feeling down, hittin' the beer
You picked me up from off the floor and gave me a smile
I said you're much too young,
Your life ain't begun, let's walk for a while
And as my head was spinnin' 'round
I gazed into your eyes
And thought ooh I want you
Thank you babe for being a friend
And shinin' your light on my life
'Cause ooh I need you
As my head was comin' round
I gazed into your eyes and thought ooh I want you
Thanks again for being my friend
And straightening out my life
'Cause ooh I need you
Since then I never looked back
It's almost like livin' a dream
Ooh I got you
If ever a man had it all
It would have to be me
And ooh I love you
