Obituary of Sandra Ann Davis

Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sandra Ann (Haynes) Davis, 64, of Niles, passed away at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. Sandra was born on February 6, 1956, in Niles and was raised by her father and step-mother, William and Ella Haynes. Sandra was always the one to care for others in her household; this led to her career as a home healthcare aide. Sandra stayed in-home healthcare for several years. She then became a dietairy aid until she took early retirement to stay home and care for her daughter Shawnette Greene, who passed away in 2011 from breast cancer. Sandra’s faith carried her through many tough journeys in life and her membership at I Care Church in Niles was an important part of that journey. Sandra was notorious for what she called ‘doodling’ when in fact she was an amazing artist. She loved coloring in books and drawing her own pictures and coloring them in with every detail. Her house always had an open door for anyone who needed a meal, an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, or a safe place to lay their head. She will fondly be remembered by many of her children’s friends as “Aunt Sandra” and many of her grandchildren’s friends as “Granny”. The security and love that she showed to everyone who came through her door have left a lasting legacy. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ella; daughter, Shawnette Greene; and brother, Robert Wallace. Sandra is survived by her children, Sharon (Mikey Murphy) Strode of Niles and Aaron (Ktrina) Haynes of Niles; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Haynes of Benton Harbor; step-siblings, Jonathan Haynes, Latoya Haynes, and Otis Haynes; and many extended family members and close friends. Homegoing services to celebrate and honor Sandra’s life will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020, at First Baptist Church (I Care Church) in Niles at Noon with a time of visitation beginning one hour prior. Sandra’s pastor, Pastor Andre Love, will be officiating.
